Detroit ROCS

The Detroit Research on Cancer Survivors (ROCS) study is the parnet study to Detroit GEMS and is funded by a large grant from the National Cancer Institute to explore why African Americans have poorer outcomes after a cancer diagnosis than other populations. To research this complex question, we are recruiting over 5,000 cancer survivors in Metropolitan Detroit to complete our survey and provide biological specimens.

The goal of this study is to collect information that will allow us to describe how patients today experience life after a cancer diagnosis. This study does not evaluate or test any cancer treatment. Instead, the information collected will help guide the development of strategies to improve outcomes for years to come. The large scale of this study will also allow researchers to consider the roles of genetic, biological, social, and environmental factors in determining cancer outcomes.
